Future Rural Educators Club:  Pathway to College

Future Rural Educators

Introducing the Future Rural Educator's Club:

Montana State University's Rural Pathways Program is actively seeking high school students who harbor dreams of becoming future rural educators. The program includes a transformative component known as the Bridge to College, comprising two invaluable segments:

  • Future Rural Educators' Club:

    • Facilitated by Stephen Schreibeis, Superintendent of Glendive Public Schools, and a seasoned rural educator.

    • Monthly virtual meetings to build a supportive community and develop essential teaching skills.

    • College preparation guidance, including information on support services, dual enrollment, and financial aid. Importantly, there is no requirement to attend MSU to participate!

  • Future Rural Educators' Summer Camp:

    • Hosted in collaboration with MSU Peaks & Potential, providing hands-on teaching opportunities.

    • Mentorship from experienced educators, opportunities to practice teaching skills, and engagement in education seminars and campus activities.

    • Competitive selection process from among the Future Rural Educators' Club members.

Why Should Your Students Get Involved?

  • Exposure to Teaching: Students gain practical insights into the teaching profession, fostering a passion for education.

  • College Preparation: Valuable information on support systems, dual enrollment, and financial aid, irrespective of their choice to attend MSU.

  • Hands-On Experience: The Summer Camp offers a unique chance to practice teaching skills and attend enriching seminars.

  • Networking Opportunities: Connect with like-minded students and educators who share a passion for rural education.

  • Leadership Skills: Participating in the Future Rural Educator's Club not only introduces the art of teaching but also hones crucial leadership skills. As William Arthur Ward eloquently expressed, "The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires."

Your Call to Action:

I am thrilled about the potential impact this program can have on shaping the future of education. I kindly request your assistance in disseminating this information to your students. Attached to this email, you will find four engaging posters, each equipped with a QR code that directs students to a Student Interest Form. Here are different ways you can get the posters into the hands of your students:

Different Ways to Get It Out:

  • Classroom Distribution: Ask teachers to display the posters in their classrooms or common areas.

  • Digital Platforms: Share the posters on your school's website, social media platforms, and in your newsletters to reach a wider audience.

  • Parent-Teacher Conferences: Provide hard copies of the posters during parent-teacher conferences for parents to take home.

  • Student Leadership Groups: Collaborate with student leadership groups or clubs to help distribute the information among their peers.

  • Other Staff Members: I know your job is busy.  Forward this email to someone who can take this and run with it for you.  Many hands make light work.

  • Give To Specific Students: Maybe you don’t want to distribute to everyone but you know exactly who this should go to, just get them the information and have them fill out the interest form.

Our first meeting is scheduled for December 19th at 8 pm, and students are welcome to sign up at any time.

Together, let's inspire and nurture the next generation of rural educators. If you have any questions or require additional information, please don’t hesitate to contact me (schreibeiss@glendiveschools.org or 406-941-3595).
